Meetings and Governance

All Legion members belonging to a Zone G5 branch are welcome and encouraged to attend as observers at our semi-annual meetings, which provide a valuable opportunity to stay informed about Legion, zone and branch activities, decisions, and achievements, while gaining a deeper understanding of our goals and direction.

When you attend meetings, you have the opportunity to build relationships and discover new ways to get involved and collaborate. Your voice matters! Member participation is invaluable in shaping the Legion’s growth and driving positive change.

Below, you’ll find more information on how we run our meetings and an overview of our governance structure, so you know what to expect and how decisions are made.

Meetings

Zone G5 Conventions are generally held in March. Please see the Calendar of Events for details.

Zone G5 Council Meetings are generally held just before or just after Labour Day Weekend.

Governance

Governance means the rules, structures, policies, and procedures that help Royal Canadian Legion members work together. It shapes how we make decisions, use our resources, and decide what behaviour is acceptable. Good governance also helps us set our direction, meet members’ needs, and solve problems.

A Provincial Command, for purposes of administration, may group branches in a specified area within the command into a unit to be known as a Zone, and provide for the election of a presiding officer to be known as Zone Commander, and for the election or appointment of other officers and a Zone Council or Zone Committee.

Zones and Districts shall operate only as administrative agents of the Provincial Command.

Below you’ll find downloads for Zone G5 governance documents as well as links to those from provincial and national levels.
