The Manotick Virtual War Memorial Official Launch

Branch 314 Manotick, Thursday, November 5, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m.

Good day all:

In this season of Remembrance, the community is warmly invited to join us at Branch 314, Manotick Royal Canadian Legion, at 1000 hrs on Thursday, 05 November 2026, for the official launch of the Manotick Virtual War Memorial (MVWM).

The MVWM is an online registry and database dedicated to honouring the 22 Manotick residents who gave their lives during the Great War and the Second World War and mirrors the names of the Manotick war dead who appear on the new plaques on the Manotick Cenotaph. Each individual profile brings their story to life through biographical details, military service and unit information, burial or memorial locations, and the personal histories of those who grew up in our community.

Behind every name was a person with a family, a future, and a connection to Manotick. The loss of these 22 residents left a lasting impact on the families and the community they left behind. Developed over two years, the MVWM project seeks to preserve their stories and recognize the sacrifices made by those who volunteered in service to King, Empire, Commonwealth, and Community.

During the launch, Jim Morris, Webmaster of the MVWM, will provide an overview of the website and demonstrate how family members and members of the public can contribute digital photographs, letters, documents, and other memorabilia to enrich these individual profiles. Through these contributions, the memorial can continue to grow as a lasting record of Manotick’s wartime history.

For the first time, Manotick’s fallen will be brought together in a dedicated online memorial, ensuring that their names, service, and stories are accessible to present and future generations.

Please join us as we honour their sacrifice, remember their stories, and ensure that Manotick’s fallen are never forgotten.
